All we could think watching Travis Pastrana’s latest video is how proud the Duke boys would be.
When we last saw Travis, he was busy spray painting a C8 Z06 and promising to jump 140 feet in said Chevy that he had just won at Cleetus McFarland’s Freedom 500.
After cooler heads eventually prevailed and convinced Pastrana not to risk destroying a “freaking Z06” (as our buddy Rick Conti might say), Travis decided instead to sell the Z and use the proceeds to buy a Stingray for that long-distance jump.
Basically, after jumping all kinds of vehicles over the years, Pastrana’s team wanted to see if it was possible to use any vehicle, even a high-powered and low-slung sports car like a Stingray, to soar 110 feet through the air.
While watching snippets of Pastrana’s other jumps you might think he’s a wild and careless daredevil, the truth is that he and his team go to great lengths to ensure their stunts are as safe as humanly possible.
For instance, in the case of the “flying C8,” the team ran multiple tests with other vehicles to determine the best speed to complete the jump successfully and even took the additional time to widen the launch ramp after seeing how easy it was to get too close to a dirt bank on the right.
After aborting the first jump at the last second, Pastrana’s associate Jim York finally steers the ‘Vette up the ramp, soars through the air, and lands hard on the nose, setting off the airbag and damaging the radiator but not doing much harm otherwise to either the Corvette or York. Indeed, it’s said that they could have had the car ready for another try with just $150 in repairs. Impressive proof of the kind of engineering that makes the C8 such an impressive performer under normal circumstances.
Watch the end of the video to get Pastrana’s in-depth recap of the jump using data from the Corvette’s Performance Data and Video Recorder.

And if it had a 2″ rally lift from the factory, it probably wouldn’t have had a scratch.
My question back to you is – why?
These guys think this is fun or a good idea????
Hello Flyncya and Old G.
These guys do it for one reason. YouTube views/attention, as the car cost them nothing as Travis won this in a race, and they would not have any respect that a normal person would have for any type of machinery or vehicle, as they make money from racing or destroying them.
Travis net worth is estimated to be $25-$40 million, to him this would be like trashing a Honda Civic.
