[VIDEO] Jesse Iwuji Races His C8 E-Ray Against All Comers Including a C7 ZR1, a C8 Z06, and a Dodge Demon

Jesse Iwuji has been lucky enough to experience ownership of both a C8 Corvette Z06 and a C8 E-Ray and he has tracked both cars numerous times. As an unexpected twist, the AWD Corvette E-Ray has emerged as the one that Jesse seems to be enjoying the most – at least when it comes to drag racing.

In this new video from Jesse, he is back at the drag strip with his Cacti-colored E-Ray Coupe and explains that since his time of ownership, the car has had minimal modifications like custom wheels, but is still running on its stock Michelin 4S summer tires. He says it’s still a really good representation of the stock capabilities of Corvette’s first performance hybrid sports car.

In Jesse’s first race, he goes up against a modified BMW M240i that is a rear-wheel drive two-door coupe that is equipped with drag radials. Despite the lighter weight and those tires, the E-Ray was able to quickly launch, achieving a remarkable 1.56-second 60-foot time on street tires. Jesse says that 60-foot time is similar to what he gets when his Z06 is wearing drag radials and he’s quite surprised to see a similar time with his E-Ray and the stock Michelins.

Next up was very close race with a C8 Corvette Z06 that is also running on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Despite a slight slip during the launch, the Corvette E-Ray finished with a time of 10.93 seconds at 124.5 mph while the Z06 clocked in at 11.0 seconds at 125 mph. Jesse gives praise to the Z06 owner afterward as it was his first drag racing event he’s done in his Z06.

This is another matchup we’ve been wanting to see as Jesse’s next opponent is a 2019 Corvette ZR1 with ZTK. Jesse was pretty excited as the E-Ray got off the line first, but the superior power of the ZR1 which has been modified to around 900 wheel horsepower turned out to be too much for the E-Ray. This race clocked in at 10.68 seconds for the ZR1 while the E-Ray was right behind at 10.91 seconds.

After winning a run against another C8 Z06 with a time of 10.89 seconds at 123 mph, he faces a Dodge Demon. The Dodge was equipped with drag radials and skinny front tires, but despite those advantages, the E-Ray secures the victory with a time of 10.89 seconds compared to the Demon’s 10.99 seconds.

With his victories coming against stalwart competition like the modified BMW, C8 Z06 and the Dodge Demon, Jesse once again shows that the Corvette E-Ray is a force to be reckoned with – at least in the quarter mile arena.
