If you always loved the look of a 1963 Corvette Sting Ray split window coupe but couldn’t fit because of your height, you might want to check out this slightly expanded version that will be auctioned off next week at Barrett-Jackson.
Factory Hot Rods is responsible for this beautiful resto-mod that was stretched three inches in the rear floor that provided a total of eight inches between the steering column and the seat to accommodate taller occupants.
The goal of this “high-quality” build, as it’s labeled in the listing, was “to maintain the car’s factory original identity while injecting it with modern power, performance and passenger comfort.”
Along those lines, a tuned GM LS3 525-horsepower crate engine has been installed, featuring a polished sheet metal intake with a custom cold-air intake and EVOD polished Corvette script coil covers and polished front drive system, not to mention a new GM engine management harness and computer system with Lectric Limited RestoMod wiring harnesses, front and rear.
Other updates include a Dewitt polished radiator, Vintage Air, Stainless Works headers, halogen headlamps, power windows, Stiletto Quick Steer power rack & pinion power steering operated by a Billet Specialties D-shaped wheel on a Flaming River column, and a GM 4L75E four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. Check out the SRIII chassis, C7 Z51 performance braking with 14-inch rotors, C7 Z06 suspension, and Winters Quick Charge differential.
Outside, the crew started with a clean, original factory body, with an original 1967 stinger hood, and coated the exterior with new Titanium Blue Metallic paint and also added tucked triple-plated chrome bumpers, Detroit Speed electric headlight motors, 7-speed wiper system, side mirrors with turn signals, polished brightwork, and new tinted glass.
The beauty doesn’t stop on the outside, though, as the custom Daytona Blue leather interior features red double stitching and Daytona Hot Rod carpet, Classic Instruments gauges with SkyDrive, a custom sound system with original look and updated with Bluetooth capability, and shoulder harness belts.
In case you’re upset that you didn’t get to watch this masterpiece under construction, the next best thing – a photo album of the build – is included.
