[VIDEO] Dennis Collins Rescues a 1962 Corvette from a Florida Back Yard

While he was in Florida to pick up another car, Dennis Collins of “Coffee Walk” got a lead on a 1962 Corvette nearby in beautiful Sarasota.

Check out his latest treasure hunt on Episode 330 that just dropped on YouTube, but don’t expect an easy go of it.

The owner of the car apparently planned a restoration years ago but fell ill sometime around 2009 and eventually passed away in 2013 – leaving behind the body and chassis of his Corvette, minus the windshield frame, underneath a tarp and ladder outside, along with an assortment of parts in another dilapidated shed on the property.

Only problem – a hurricane had hit Sarasota shortly before they arrived, and debris was still stacked along the road, so Dennis’ trailer wouldn’t make it in there – and as he points out, his helper James had broken its winch cable anyway. That’s when they had to call in Dylan with a local wrecker service, and he quickly had the car on his rollback – after Dennis had used his feet, hands, a hammer, and crowbar to knock down a fence blocking the way.

Meanwhile, it literally took a village of helpers to get the assorted mix of parts out of the nearby shed, including the seller, the finder, and a young girl getting ready to graduate from nursing school.

While the car and the accompanying parts aren’t anything to write home about now, Dennis still reckons he’s got more than 50 percent of this last-year C1 Corvette in hand, including an unexpected hardtop.

Even though the car will need thousands of hours of work, we think it’s still worth watching this video just to see the pickup of the car and its assorted parts unfold.
