We’ve told you about several Corvettes that have been rescued by Dennis Collins and his crew and then documented on their YouTube channel.
Today, though, we searched for but couldn’t find any recent “Coffee Walk” video from Collins detailing the rescue of this 1959 Corvette convertible that’s being offered on eBay by Collins Bros. Jeep of Wylie, Texas for $35,000 or best offer.
We assume it’s one of the 25 Corvettes that Collins says he has rescued this year alone from various barns, garages, or sheds where they’ve sat forlorn for years.
Unfortunately, the eBay listing doesn’t provide much detailed information about this car, either, other than this brief description: Perfect Corvette candidate for a restoration or resto-mod. Clear Title.
After looking through the many photos that are provided of the car, it appears that it may have one of the five variations of the 283 V8 available in 1959, though exactly which one remains a mystery. Also unknown is whether that engine still runs these days, though for sure it does sport aftermarket Edelbrock valve covers added sometime over the past 65 years. We also believe it to have a four-speed manual transmission – one of the 4,175 Corvettes so equipped out of the total production run of 9,670 that year.
While it’s definitely a long way from being an immaculate example, there’s something about this rough black on black convertible (with a hardtop included) that just makes it look like it has been a fun car for its owners over the years. I’ve always liked slot mags on certain vehicles, so maybe that’s why I like this one.
Of course, I don’t think I like it enough to pay $35,000, especially after hearing recently that a new paint job alone can be a $20,000 investment these days. On the other hand, if the new owner intends from the get-go to turn this one into a full-blown resto-mod, spending big bucks like that on just the paint is merely the price of admission.

Looks like a ’62 from the side. Odd.
I own a number matching by date codes body off frame 59. This one is a disaster that could be used as a drag race car, as it looks like it was. not to be restored.
