Just when you think Dennis Collins and his “Coffee Walk” team might have run out of forlorn Corvettes to rescue, they come up with an impressive “two-fer” on their latest YouTube post.

And not just any “two-fer.”

This pair of classic Corvette coupes are one-owners that have been parked in the same garage for the past 49 years – a ’66 “his” and a ’73 “hers.”

And to spice things up even more, they’ve been crammed into a two-car garage, separated by a ’48 DeSoto that Dennis also purchased from the owners.

Luckily, unlike so many owners who pull their old cars into a garage and begin tearing them apart, this couple kept both Corvettes intact.

The ’66 Sting Ray is showing less than 10,000 miles and retains its original Laguna Blue paint job (though it has some primer on the front corners) and black interior and it’s believed about the only things not original today are the belts and the oil. They even discover the original owner’s manual and Protect-O-Plate plus a lot of other paperwork in the glove box once the Mrs. hands Dennis the keys.

Dennis says it has the upgraded code-correct 327/350 engine and a four-speed manual transmission but doesn’t have a lot of other options other than AM/FM radio and power brakes.

On the other hand, the Yellow Metallic ’73, which was driven by the wife, is much better equipped, with power steering and brakes, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, four-speed manual, and deluxe woodgrain interior. She drove it approximately 38,000 miles before parking it, but despite the low mileage, the urethane front bumper (which marked Chevy’s entry into the rubber bumper era that year) has suffered the fate of so many of its brethren and in fact started disintegrating as soon as their son touched it. Dennis figures it may be completely gone by the time it makes it from Michigan back home to Texas.

No explanation was offered on the video as to why the couple parked their two sports cars and never drove them again over the next nearly half a century. Their storage in the dry garage no doubt kept them from rusting out in the snowy Michigan winters.

Fortunately, we do know for sure that Dennis and his crew will soon remedy that situation and return these American classic sports cars to the road where they belong.

  1. I would jump over that ‘66 just to get my paws on that ‘73. Always liked the unique look of the ‘73.
