The previous owner of this 1970 Corvette convertible enjoyed the car for more than 20 years.
Now this Cortez Silver Stingray (with a new black soft top) is being offered on eBay, where the high bid has reached just $14,600 with the auction coming to an end Monday.
That figure is likely far from satisfactory as we spotted this car on Barn Finds, where an avid auction watcher claims it’s been offered seven times before on eBay and has never met the reserve figure, despite a high bid of $32,800 one time.
Nevertheless, this is still a very eye-catching chrome-bumper Stingray, especially in this exterior color combo accented by a nice black interior.
Some enthusiasts will be disappointed with the numbers-matching drivetrain that includes a Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission. It’s mated with a “smooth and strong” 350/300 horsepower V8 engine that resides in a “nicely detailed” engine bay. The seller says the chrome distributor housing has been ordered and will be installed as part of the deal.
Other features include power steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, deluxe woodgrain interior, and 15×8 Rally wheels inside Cooper Cobra white letter tires.
“This Corvette runs and drives great,” the seller says, noting that the wipers, wiper door, headlights, turn signals, parking brake, speedometer, tachometer, and auxiliary gauges all work (except for the clock).
We really like the look of this vintage C3, but we’re having some problems getting past the couple of scuff marks pictured on the passenger side. Would those flaws keep you from enjoying this car, too?
