Boy, is it good to back here at CorvetteBlogger following the stress and anxiety caused by having a Cat 5 hurricane aimed at everything you love.
Well, we are somewhat back following Hurricane Milton. Now on the fifth day following the storm, I still have no power or internet here at the house, which was undamaged from the storm. Just behind us there were several trees knocked down including one that fell directly on our horse trailer.
Most surprising was the lack of water damage which is what we were most worried about as forecasters were predicting 10-15 feet of storm surge. I can tell we got flooded again in the backyard and judging by the remaining water lines on the fence, it was about half of what we got with Helene. My only loss was one of my older Koi fish, but the others were able to hang on until I could get the filters running again via our generator.
Up until Saturday, my cell phone service was basically only allowing me to make calls. I could receive all text messages, but could only respond to some and not others. I wasn’t able to use any data until Saturday and a speed test showed I was only getting around 2 mb/sec downloads while also getting dropped constantly. Luckily, after finally able to get gas, I drove up to the AT&T store (which was also running on a generator) and once I upgraded to an iPhone 16, my network access improved greatly.
Milton arrived on Wednesday night and because of the track shift, it basically went right over where we were staying inland. At the same time and 800 miles to the north, my 2025 Corvette E-Ray was completed at the Corvette Assembly Plant. It was only on Thursday and my return to our undamaged house that I could celebrate this event.
So far, no ETA for power and our internet provider is waiting for power to be restored before fixing the internet. They tell us it could be a few days, it could be a week or longer. We’ve got the generator running and now that gas has come in, we can put up with what I call “Camping Indoors” for a little longer as we clean out the garage to make room for our new arrival.
While the website stayed up during the storm, we were not able to post anything since last Wednesday. This week may be light as well, but I am committed to spending some quality time here to get back to doing what I love. Please have some patience as we work through this.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear you and your family are safe. I know you have a lot of work ahead of you. Be careful of hidden dangers cleaning up.
Glad you guys are safe and it wasn’t as bad as you thought. I know many people over there, and it was definitely rough in a lot of areas. And now you get to enjoy getting your E-Ray soon!
