[VIDEO] 2025 Corvette ZR1 Goes 170 MPH and Does 360s at the Milford Proving Ground

CBS Sunday Morning ran a video featuring GM CEO Mary Barra on the push for GM’s electric future, but it’s the second part of this story that Corvette enthusiasts will want to stick around for.

CBS taped this video at the Milford Proving Ground and it opens with Mary Barra riding in the upcoming Cadillac Escalade IQ while the reporter Kris Van Cleave sat in the driver seat. The SUV features a 460-mile range and its full width monitor on the dash is really just out of this world. Also during that segment was a Super Cruise demonstration as the interview was held.

Next up is why you are here, as you’ll see new Executive Corvette Chief Engineer Tony Roma giving the ride of his life to the same reporter in the new 2025 Corvette ZR1 with ZTK. We get to see some in-car action (watch the reporters eyes) and then outside as the car goes screaming by at 170 mph during a run on a long straight. The scene switches to Black Lake where we see a driver (not sure it’s still Tony in the car) executing a perfect 360 at speed!

The question comes to Tony about the possibility of the Corvette being powered by something other than a gas powered engine, and I think this was a pretty good response from our new Executive Chief Engineer. He says, “We talk about this a lot. I talk about this with enthusiasts, my friends, other engineers…we’re not going to apply electrification just for the sake of it. You know, we don’t put technology on just for technology sake, so it kind of has to earn its way and it has to make the car better in some way that our customers are going to respond to.

It goes on to talk more about electrification overall with Mary, but that’s the part of the segment we wanted to share. You can see the video below and the Corvette ZR1 segment starts at 3:19.

  1. That’s hilarious that Biden wants to drive the first electric Corvette. By the time it comes out, he’d never be able to handle it.

  2. Joe Biden already has a Corvette, but because he is the President, the Secret Service, won’t let him drive it on the streets and highways

  3. Soy boy reporter of course pushes the green new deal. That’s all they learned in journalism school.

  4. The country is not ready for all EV. That reporter is kind of a douche bag, to many issues with charging and performance and reliability. Ya Biden has a nice 67′ drop top Vette, I think I would get in trouble for telling the SS to go away and sneaking off to go have some Corvette fun!! Every time I drive my 11′ GS Vette especially with the top off and start going through the gears, it makes me smile and I think to myself “Ya I love this car, I love the sound, I love how it feels, ya electric my ass.
