Would you like to become just the third owner of this 1971 Corvette coupe being offered for $26,000 on Craigslist out of the New Brunswick, New Jersey area?
While the thought of being able to easily identify the only two people who have ever owned a car is appealing, in this case we’re not sold yet.
A potential buyer might be wise to create a laundry list of questions to ask the current owner.
For instance, there’s the matter of the original 350 engine being replaced, despite the car having just 64,000 miles on the odometer. Unfortunately, for the purists out there, that engine is said to no longer be available, and there is no description of its current replacement or its condition. Fortunately, the new engine does enjoy the distinction of being mated with a four-speed manual transmission.
We are also told that “a lot has been rebuilt or replaced” on this Stingray, but it would be worth pursuing exactly which parts we are talking about.
If you can trust photos, the car’s exterior appears to be in acceptable enough condition, with only a few obvious chips visible to the naked eye and no apparent body panel damage. Since the car has apparently been in the New Jersey area its entire life, it would be prudent to ask about the condition of the frame though several photos from underneath seem to indicate a lack of rust damage.
As for the interior, only one photo is providing in the listing, but the black vinyl seems to be in good condition and there is no obvious damage visible.
The good news is that it shouldn’t be hard to get more of these important details about the past and present condition of this car, since the seller says he “knew the previous owner and he had it since it was new” and he would be happy to answer any questions.
What would you like to know about this car?

I would check the bird cage since it’s a rust belt car.
