Our friends at Hagerty’s Broad Arrow Auctions have recently added a 4th US auction to the 2024 calendar. Their new Chattanooga sale will take place Saturday October 12th as part of the 5th annual Chattanooga Motorcar Festival. Broad Arrow is expecting to host 75 impressive lots which currently includes eight stellar Corvettes now listed in the online catalog.
The Chattanooga docket is an eclectic mix of modern exotics, motor city classics, racers, and more. In addition to the vast selection of Porsche’s, Ferrari’s, and Ford GT’s we see eight Corvettes representing four of the eight generations.
The Corvette docket contains modern marvels like a 2019 ZTK convertible and 2016 C7.R Edition Coupe while a restored 1966 convertible carries the C2 flag. The remaining 5 Corvettes hail from the Stingray Survivor Collection and represent some of the finest unrestored sharks on the planet. All of which feature big block powerplants, 4-speed manual transmissions, and recent NCRS judging awards.
Given the provenance of each Chattanooga Corvette, it’s hard to pick our favorite. Here are three Corvettes that we’d love to park in the CorvetteBlogger garage.
2019 Sebring Orange/Black ZR1 Convertible
2019 was the final year of the C7 generation which also turned out to be the final Corvette generation with the engine in front of the driver. The big news was the return of the ZR1 with its massive supercharger putting out 755 thumping horsepower. In the end, just 2,953 ZR1’s were built during their single-year of production. Of those, just 512 were convertible models.
This 2019 Corvette ZR1 is one of just 758 dressed in the striking Sebring Orange Design Package. The nearly $7,000 option package added Sebring Orange paint, orange interior accents, and orange brake calipers. This example has been further enhanced with a custom rear bumper. This highly optioned Corvette also features the ZTK Performance Package which includes the carbon fiber high wing, front splitter, and performance suspension with Magnetic Ride Control. Sticker price when new was over $148,000.
The car has travelled just 5,290 miles and presents as nearly new.
2016 Corvette Racing Yellow/Black C7.R Edition Coupe
This 2016 coupe is the 8th C7.R Edition Z06 built that year and shows just 313 miles from new. The C7.R enhances the base Z06 package with the Z07 Performance Package and 3LZ equipment group. The special edition was available in both Black or Corvette Racing Yellow in coupe or convertible form. A total of 650 cars were built with 500 for the US and another 150 for export.
The 650-hp LT4 V-8 engine is mated to a 7-speed manual transmission . Brembo carbon ceramic brake handed stopping duties while carbon fiber aero keeps the car planted on the track. The Corvette Racing Yellow paint complements the black suede interior and its yellow stitching.
This tribute to the Corvette Racing team remains in essentially new condition. Inside you’ll note the plastic film still attached to the radio display and the warning label hanging from the rearview mirror. The sale includes the optional C7.R-themed indoor car cover, an additional roof panel, two key fobs, and more.
1969 Daytona Yellow/Black Convertible
Coming from the Stingray Survivor Collection, this 1969 Corvette convertible shows 34,181 miles from new. It was first sold new to Ronald Rubin through Rowe Chevrolet in March of 1969. Ronald loaded up his new Corvette with nearly every option available. Appointments included the 435hp L71 engine mated to a M21 4-speed manual transmission. The big block engine inhales through 3-2-barrel carburetors and exhales through side mounted exhaust. Additional options include special front and rear suspension, a 4.11:1 rear end, power brakes, power windows, power steering, transistor ignition, tinted glass, tilt/telescope steering wheel, white stripe tires, front fender louver trim, alarm, speed warning, AM/FM stereo radio, and a vinyl covered hardtop.
The two-owner Stingray wears its original paint save for one touch up on the passenger door. It’s highly documented including the window sticker, its original Protect-O-Plate, tank sticker, original owner statements, and more.
The car has won two NCRS Top Flight awards with the most recent blue ribbon coming in April 2024. Additionally, it participated in Bloomington Gold’s 2019 Gold Collection which saluted the 1968-1972 “Shark” Corvettes.
