We got a quick update from the Nürburgring regarding the C8 Corvette Z06 and it sounds like it could be some great news! GM tells us not to care about Nürburgring lap times, but you can’t compare yourself to the competition unless you make the run at the world’s most difficult track. While GM doesn’t talk lap times, a few outsiders do including German magazine Sport Auto which maintains a strong presence at the track.
We’ve talked previously about how the Corvette engineering team took a US-spec C8 Corvette Z06 to the Nürburgring for the September industry pool testing session that went on for two weeks. The Z06 Coupe with the Z07 Performance Package was going to be driven by Christian Gebhardt for the German auto magazine Sport Auto and their series on Nürburgring Super Tests.
Christian published on his Instagram page following the timed hot lap that the Z06 set the fastest Sport Auto time of the 2024 season. He writes:
“The Z06 Nordschleife lap time was recorded yesterday, and it is the fastest sport auto lap time of the 2024 season. Many thanks for the great teamwork to @corvette and @michelinusa You will soon be able to read the result in sport auto and watch the lap as usual on the sport auto YouTube channel.”
Before we get to excited about the Z06 being the fastest of 2024, we thought we should at least see what else was tested. We pulled up the Sport Auto YouTube channel and we can see which cars did run the Nurburging in 2024:
• Porsche 718 GT4 RS Manthey-Kit 7:12.87
• Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 2 9:12.58
• Honda Civic Type R (FL5) 7:57.29
• Toyota GR Supra GT4 100th Edt Tribute 7:54.11
• BMW M3 CS 7:27.19
• BMW M2 (G87) 7:38.23
• Kirfel-Renault Megane R.S. Trophy-R 7:44.40
• Hyundai Ioniq 5 N 7:45.59
The C8 Corvette Z06 Nordschleife run hasn’t been posted, so stay tuned as we’ll share it the moment it is dropped. In the meantime, we do have this video from Carspotter Jeroen who captured the Rapid Blue Z06 as it was doing some laps on the Nürburgring. He tried to capture a time himself, but its evident the Z06 ran into traffic and it didn’t look like they were attempting a hero lap as they drove by.

Still dont want one
Ok, then I’ll take yours:)
Until you have a official time to show, please don’t post anymore stories about this topic. Nothings worse than a person bragging abut how fast his car is, but will never race it.
As fast as it is it would stand to reason the ZR1 on a track this long will better it by a bunch.
Can’t wait to see ZR1 numbers against the most expensive and exotic Euro stuff…
” GM tells us not to care about Nürburgring lap times “………..
WHAT?!
So, 7:01 to 7:05 roughly. just a guess
If it had broken the 7:00 minute barrier it should have leaked out. By comparison – see below the last Vette at the Nordschleife.

Hello gorgeous! 😁
Replying to Brent:

Translation: We make good sports cars for the money but Ferrari, Lambo, Mercedes and Porsche are much faster. We know the times but are not releasing them yet. Besides, we at GM know for certain and without any doubt that electric cars are the future even if no one wants them much.
