This week brought the first test of the C8 Corvette ZORA model at the Nürburgring! Since the news broke and spy photos were first shared on Tuesday, we’ve been waiting for some video to hit the interwebs, so a huge thanks to our friends at the MidEngineCorvetteForum for bringing this quick one to our attention!
I’ve updated this post later Thursday afternoon as I also wanted to share this video from Stefan Baldauf who runs the CarSpyMedia YouTube channels. We got our initial ZORA spy photographs from Stefan and he promised a video would be coming later in the week. Here is the first of his and it rocks!
He says, SOUND ON! I have taken a new spy video of the all new Chevrolet Corvette C8 ZORA during some hot laps on the Nürburgring. The test team arrived with four Zora prototypes at the Nürburgring earlier this week. Rain, cold temperatures and a wet racetrack stopped them in the last two days, but the team used each single moment when the track was dry.
“Yesterday they couldn’t drive in the morning, because of a wet track until midday. And today they could only drive in the morning until it started to rain after lunch and rained the rest of the day.”
Here was the first video we also got today and it’s another look at the ZORA, but I don’t think it highlights the potential of the ZORA like the above video does. I also found the tire noise to be somewhat loud, and it even covered up much of the engine sound as the ZORA carved through the various turns shown in the video. Other vehicles came through as well were also loud, so perhaps it was just a “track conditions” thing. We do know that the weather hasn’t been great to start with, so here’s hoping it does improve over the next week.
As the car passes by, you can see the bright yellow Nürburgring sticker on the bottom of the engine hatch window signifying a hybrid/EV powertrain.

That thing looks and sounds scary fast. The electric motor has to add more power tahn it does in an Eray. So, I’m thinking at least 200 hp to give the Zora at least 1,250 hp.
Four unverified references a good video with good photographs and a completely made up video title. The internet has spawn another rumor and this time the rumor is called ZORA!
Could it just be that brutally honest Tadge J. confirmed that the ZR1 was still undergoing last touch development and validation and that is what we are seeing and hearing?
