[VIDEO] First Sounds from the 2025 Corvette ZR1 on the Nurburgring

With the Corvette engineers testing the 2025 Corvette ZR1 prototypes on the Nurburgring this week, we’ve been waiting to hear the angry sounds from the ZR1’s new LT7 V8 of which the details are still unknown. We are still thinking the car is turbocharged and the new body appears to support that as it features additional air-intakes and vents that appear ripe for a twin-turbo set-up.

Now we have our first video of the 2025 Corvette ZR1 on the Nurburgring and is that the sound of forced induction we are hearing?

The video from Oli on YouTube shows various prototypes entering the Nürburgring Nordschleife and the Corvette ZR1 first enters the fray at the 1:00 minute mark. As the car drives by, we were surprised to see the car equipped with exhaust extensions and instantly notice that the car is probably quieter than it should be. Like the C7 Corvette ZR1, are the Corvette engineers trying to divert sound away from any sound monitors?

The ZR1 enters the track again at the 3:58 time stamp following a four-door Porsche out to the circuit. The Porsche pulls to the right of the track to allow the ZR1 to pass and we get another good look at the exhaust pipe extensions which can be seen on the rear of the car as it looks like the sound is being directed downward to the track.

It’s at this point that we believe we are hearing the turbos as there is a definite “whoosh” sound that can be heard as the Corvette gets on the accelerator and rounds the corner. The ZR1 is then captured again, and the sound of the Corvette ZR1 does appear to be different than what we are used to hearing on the naturally-aspirated Corvette Z06.

Crank your speakers and then check out the video below. Let us know what you think about these first sounds of the Corvette ZR1 on the Nurburgring:

  1. Great way to hide the true sound. Very muffled yet string. Turbo or supercharged that the question. Chexy and Callaway did a supercharged on c8. I still lean more towards turbo for engine relief.

  2. Should be a lot to learn about what has been done to this engine. Has to be a lot more than just bolting on turbos…could be lower displacement.

  3. Definately a turbo.

Good looking car, but can honestly do away with the obnoxious hot import nights wing. It makes the car look like a stunt prop for the Fast and the Furious.
