[VIDEO] Speed Phenom Talks 2025 Corvette ZR1 with Chevrolet at Car Week

We haven’t heard from Speed Phenom for a while, which I confirm was by design, but I just have to share this video he did with Chevrolet’s Shad Balch with the new 2025 Corvette ZR1.

Chevy brought out the new American Supercar out to Pebble Beach for Car Week, and Speed Phenom captured the car as it drove into Spanish Bay Golf Course and was parked. He also got some killer revs at the end, so stay with it.

Shad walks Speed Phenom around the car and the duo cover all the important details of the car such as the additional cooling and the 1200 lbs of downforce from the large wing on the rear. We still don’t have the official performance stats, but Shad says the engineers are very comfortable by saying its top speed will be greater than 215 mph, while also having a quarter mile time that’s sub-10s. Later in the conversation, Shad says that during the first test of the car at the Nürburgring, four different test drivers all surpassed 200 mph! Imagine the lap times folks! Unfortunately, I am resigned to the fact that Chevy won’t disclose its Nurburgring lap times.

We also get our first look at the Tadge Head Graphic on the ZR1’s rear glass. Chevy is honoring retired Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter on each and every ZR1 before rolling out to the windshields of all 2025 Corvettes.

Speed also makes some decent points about how each model of Corvette that has been released in the C8 era has its own purpose and identity, and that they are all very different from each other. While there are similarities to the Z06, the ZR1 is very different from its naturally aspirated sibling, and we could see some well-heeled collectors have both cars in their collection.

Competition Yellow vs Accelerate Yellow

And finally, we get the first look at a Competition Yellow Corvette ZR1 parked next to an Accelerate Yellow Z06 so you can see the different in the two yellow exterior colors.

  1. The fate of the nurburing time was sealed in 2016 by porsche and the prototype tires that became OEM cup2r tires three years later. Good to see all the others not biting either.
