Not every vintage Corvette has to be a stunning nut and bolt restoration for the owner to enjoy.
For instance, this 1971 Stingray T-top coupe may not be factory original these days but still looks like it could provide a lot of fun for the buck.
The previous owner apparently had the car for “many, many” years but with increasing age finally reached the point where he could no longer climb in and out of the cockpit.
That’s too bad because it looks like a really fun place to be.
However, reality has set in and now this dark red C3 is up for sale on eBay, where 25 bids have hit a peak of $19,000, with a little more than three days left in the auction.
The first things you notice about this car are the flared front and rear fenders said to have been professionally added years ago but still in “good condition” now with “no obvious flaws” showing.
The aesthetic fun on the outside continues with a set of side pipes and then moves under the hood with a 350 V8 engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission.
“This car starts, runs, drives and shifts as it should,” the seller explains.
In addition, his car also has a nice lineup of creature comforts for the era, including power windows / door locks /brakes, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, rear luggage rack, and factory air conditioning (that needs a pump, the seller says). New carpet has already been installed, and based on the limited selection of photos, the tan cloth seats don’t look like they have any rips or holes, though there are some dirty spots that could use some attention.
Underneath, the frame and birdcage are described as being “solid” so that’s always good to hear. The paint, meanwhile, is still “shiny and looks nice,” but being an older repaint, it does admittedly have some flaws upon closer inspection.
Overall, the seller believes the car remains “in really nice shape” for a vehicle more than a half century old. The new owner could enjoy it as is or could be redone with minimal work, in his assessment.
In short, “If you have always dreamed of having an older Vette but don’t have a lot of money to sink into it, this could be the car for you,” he concludes.

Something appears to be off on the right rear of this car. Wide fender flares look stupid when you don’t have wide enough wheels and tires to fill them up with.
