In just two weeks, the new 2025 Corvette ZR1 will be revealed to the world. At least, that’s what we are hoping happens on July 25th as Chevy has been hyping the reveal of the latest C8 super car since April.
While all that is happening, the Corvette engineers are still out there driving the prototypes in the wild. We caught these photos posted on the C8 Corvette Facebook Page by Aiden Tighe. The group appears to contain four to five camo prototypes plus we have a Black painted widebody with corner-mounted exhaust which is either an E-Ray or an export Z06.
Another interesting aspect with this group of prototypes is that they all appear to be no-wing cars. We looked to see if any of the prototypes have the tell-tale sign of extra cooling required for the electrified front motor a la the E-Ray, but with the rain falling, it makes it difficult to determine.
I really like this photo above as it really provides us a great look at the rear air intake just under the gas door lid. One of the things we’ve seen from Kirk Bennion and his designers is that every C8 model is getting their own “style” of door intake trim and the ZR1 looks to be the most aggressive yet.

Going back to that Black C8 Corvette driving with the prototypes, to my eyes it looks like its wearing Z06 forged wheels when I zoom in on the photo, so I believe our original assessment of this being an export model may be correct. Why it appears to have an off-color front and rear fascia is another interesting development.
As far as the reveal goes, it’s rumored to be happening out in LA somewhere and perhaps GM will show the car like they did with the Z06 and E-Ray at the Petersen Automotive Museum following the event. We also haven’t really heard of anyone being invited personally, so perhaps it will be a virtual affair. We’re still expecting some additional info including the timing of the reveal, so stay tuned!

Zoom in on the rear wheels. Inside wheel barrels have the heat protective white coating that is also used on the optional Carbon Fiber Z06/eRay wheels. To me this indicates these ZR1/Zora wheels are going to be Carbon Fiber.
Somebody could have a lot of fun if they put a camo wrap on a regular Stingray and drove it around to generate publicity buzz. Then the media would say: “Everything we heard about the ZR1 is wrong!” Lol.
