[SPIED] C8 Corvette ZR1 Prototypes with Tadge Juechter and Harlan Charles Along for the Ride

We have another cool sighting of the Corvette Engineering Team driving the C8 ZR1 prototypes with the Ferrari SF90 in tow as captured by Bob Lubecky and sent to Rick Corvette Conti. With all the variations shown here, it’s almost like they are testing something for everyone…from a no-wing Convertible, a Coupe with the Z06 High Wing, and then the C8 prototype with the “Really High Wing.” Whether these are anything other than ZR1s remains a mystery.

Of course, we speculated that the inclusion of the 1,000 hp Ferrari SF90 Stradale makes us think that perhaps a Zora might be lurking inside one of those prototypes. Or perhaps, a rumored Grand Sport? Conti has some thoughts on it as you can imagine.

In the video, we do see some familiar faces. Driving one of the camo’d convertibles is Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles and his passenger is the soon-to-be-retired Executive Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter. We kind of feel a little bit of sadness knowing that this may be their final testing trip together.

We know from previous launches that the Corvette Engineering Team likes to take a big trip as they wrap up their development testing. As we have Tadge and Harlan along for this ride, and knowing that the ZR1’s reveal is scheduled for this summer, we wonder if this could be the final validation drive for the ZR1?

In addition to the camo Corvettes, there was a Red Corvette Z06 and then this guy with Z06 wheels, Rapid Blue vent trim and rear spoiler, while the body panels were either flat black or gray. Is this the ringer they want us to focus on while something a little…more slips away?

As the drivers head to their cars and we turned up the speakers to 11 to try to capture any interesting sounds. They basically just put the car in gear and slowly rolled by the camera. As for Conti’s title, everything was cool, and nobody crashed into each other.

  1. Got to give them credit that after twenty years they seem to have finally found out the right cars for compares and the real competition. Parading with obsolete retro German cars was diminishing the whole effort altogether.
