The guys at WD Detailing have been hard at work again, this time on a black-on-black 1962 Corvette roadster that’s been stored in New Hampshire for 35 years.
In their latest YouTube video, we get to meet the owner of the car, a young man named Chase whose grandfather first bought it in the ‘70s before also letting his son drive it in high school in the late ‘80s. The last inspection sticker is dated 1988, and shortly after that, this Corvette was stored in a barn for 20 or 25 years and then moved to a warehouse for the past 10 years.

Amazingly, the car has just 11,282 miles on the odometer, but you’d never know it by looking at the collection of debris and grime that had built up over the decades, thanks to critters like mice and raccoons, who were “kind” enough to leave more than a few “gifts” behind to remember them by.
While the factory lacquer paint is very soft – the guys are able to scratch it with just a light brush of a fingernail – the good thing is that it’s also very easy to polish and get it shining once again.

As you might expect from such a low-mileage car, the interior was still in very good condition underneath all that dirt. It just took a little elbow grease from the guys to get it looking great once more.
If you watch till the end of the video, you’ll see Chase, his dad and his aunt beaming with approval after a dramatic reveal that proved to them that it’s very possible to get a long-neglected car looking good again. While WD Detailing admits the car is not perfect, the end result is definitely a great improvement. In fact, we’d be inclined to suggest to the family that they leave it as a survivor with a cool back story instead of doing an expensive nuts-and-bolts restoration. What would you do?

Turned out absolutely beautiful, lucky guy. First thing I’d do now is to get it running and driving safely then I would replace those hub caps with trim rings and center caps for those Rally Wheels, and of course thank Grand Pa every night in my prayers. This ’62 is GORGEOUS !
Was looking forward to see how they were going to tackle the white soft top, but they never did! Or at least they never showed it. Hopefully they did put the soft top back up and give it a proper clean, rather than leaving it stowed dirty.
DougR, I was wondering the exact same thing.
Also, can they even do anything to a white top like that to restore it?
What would the cost be for what they did?
He said it took about 16 hours of work and that’s probably not counting traveling.
So what does anyone think? $1500.00 to $2000.00 for that service?
JRD, I paid nearly double your speculative cost for a complete (incl. engine, interior, and wheels) ceramic detail on a 6-year-old vehicle recently, no rat poop either.
