Now that May is in the books, here’s a look at how many Corvettes were produced during the month. We are using Roger Kiel’s excellent “Unnofficial Production Tracker” from Facebook. While these numbers are unofficial, they tend to be close enough to provide an approximate accounting for the production totals of the three 2024 Corvettes: Stingray, Z06, and E-Ray.
Based on the starting and ending VINs, Chevrolet produced 4,087 Corvettes during the month of May. That’s a huge number, especially when broken down into each of the models. The Stingray saw production of 2,785 units during the month, while Chevy also produced 1,187 Z06s. We are now well over 7,000 Z06s for the model year and production of the high performance car shows no signs of slowing down. As for the E-Ray, there were 115 built during the month as the car continues its ramp-up phase.
Here were the Starting and Ending VIN sequence numbers for May:
• Stingray: 21,079-23,864
• Z06: 5,930-7,117
• E-Ray: 302-417
The busiest day came on May 8th which saw 158 Stingrays, 99 Z06s, and 11 E-Rays built. We wrote about this milestone at the time as we believe some of those totals come from two different days as they are showing 268 completed over two shifts.
We also had another record day of production for the E-Ray which came on Friday, May 31st as 18 units were completed over two shifts. That surpasses the previous high of 16 built in one day which they have done twice now.
What’s Next?
As we head into June, we’ll be watching the constraint lists carefully for more color buildout notices. We learned last week that GM was canceling Amplify Orange and Accelerate Yellow much earlier than their reported build-out dates and we’re waiting to see the others go. The most popular color to be canceled for 2025 is Hypersonic Gray which has the final build out date of August 8th. Once the word comes down that Hypersonic Gray is done, then that will probably do it for the 2024 models.
We are also expecting the 2025 Corvette Order Guide which Chevy initially told dealers was coming out on Monday, June 10th. For the last few years, these have been released on the Friday evening before their expected launch date, so we’ll be checking that weekend for an early release.
