[VIDEO] E-Ray Owners Check Your High Voltage Battery System Coolant Reservoir Caps

The 2024 Corvette E-Rays have been shipping for nearly a month now, and we just heard from a new owner who found a loose cap on his car related to the cooling system for his lithium batteries. The cap is for the high voltage battery system coolant reservoir and this alert comes from “Bear” at the new AWDCorvette.com website.

Bear says he was checking the oil and other fluids in his E-Ray Convertible when he looked under the rubber flap for the high voltage battery coolant reservoir and he says his cap was loose and vibrating (the car was running). After tightening it down, he says he reached out to another owner with the new E-Ray who reported back that his cap was loose as well.

After tightening down cap reflexively, Bear wanted to see what was inside. But as he tried to remove the cap, it simply spun and clicked like a lid on a medicine container. The coolant fluid in the reservoir is a dealership service item according to the Owner’s Manual, and because of that, there is a trick to removing the cap which isn’t in the manual. Bear says its simple to remove once you know the trick. You simply slide a narrow flat-head screwdriver into the cap where there is a slot showing, and once you start turning it, the cap unlocks, and you can remove it.

Bear made this PSA video for new E-Ray owners to check those caps! Check out awdcorvette.com and you can see more illustrations and photos of the caps and how to remove it, plus what’s inside!

  1. Probably the first of many problems with the E-ray battery system. My five problems with my 3 GM ICE vehicles have all been electrical problems. It’s why I went with a 2023 HTC Z51.I wanted an full ICE gear head car.
