As expected, Chevrolet is opening another round of Corvette orders for the month and yesterday they sent out the allocation numbers to dealers. Dealers will receive the constraints next Thursday, March 14th, and the order banks will open for them to either match their allocations to customer submitted orders or place dealer stock orders for inventory.
We heard from six dealers yesterday about their allocations and from those conversations it looks like General Motors is offering just Stingrays and Z06s again this round. No dealers we spoke to or heard from received any E-Ray allocations. Two of the six dealers we heard from received zero allocations this go-around.
However, as we watched The rollout of the E-Ray continues slowly but surely, and during one my conversations with a dealer this week, he said it feels like it has been slower than Z06s. However, it’s actually the opposite.
Taking a look back in history, it took the assembly plant from October to March 16th to build 150 Z06 customer cars. For the E-Ray, production started in earnest on January 8th after the first three cars were built in mid-December. Through Thursday, we are seeing 149 customer E-Rays completed. It’s just a matter of time before we start seeing more consistent daily build numbers.
