[VIDEO] RHD Corvette Z06 Takes a Spirited Lap at the Bathurst 12 Hour

One of the biggest Australian race events of the year is the Bathurst 12 hour endurance race which took place last weekend at the Mount Panorama circuit. The lineup features FIA GT3 approved race cars and while the Z06 GT3.R hasn’t yet found a home in either the GT World Challenge Australia or the Intercontinental GT Challenge series, the Z06 street car was there and we got a nice hot lap from Australian racer Craig Lowndes.

I forgot just how cool Mount Panorama is and it certainly lives up to its name. The track is 3.86 miles, and it has three distinct segments for racers who travel up and down the mountain. Due to the changing geography, Craig says that weather can often be a challenge with rain falling on one section while the other two are dry. Lucky for us, the course is dry and clear, so Craig lets the C8 Corvette Z06 off the chain while narrating his way around the South Wales circuit.

For this hot lap, Craig is piloting a Z06 Coupe in Arctic White with a Black interior. The car is equipped with the Z07 Performance Package and we assume it also has the Brembo Carbon Ceramic brakes as well. Of course, this Aussie-based Corvette is also wearing Carbon Revolution’s visible Carbon Fiber wheels that are also manufactured in Australia as well.

This is the first Bathurst 12 hour for the Z06 to attend and it looks like we also spotted a customer car parked in the lot on Instagram. A quick look at the production stats for 2023 shows that Chevrolet exported 11 Z06 coupes and 0 convertibles during the model year. Hopefully, there’s a few 2024s that have made it over there by now as well.

  1. Looks like a nice track, although, the corners in the hilly area look very unforgiving with the walls on both sides!
