[VIDEO] Corvette Stingray Takes Down a Tesla Model 3 at the Drag Strip

Not today, Tesla.

Normally when we see a Tesla on a drag racing video, we just see another soulless EV that has just one thing going for it – all-out acceleration via its massive instant torque. At least, that was our impression before coming across this video of a Tesla Model 3 lining up against a sinister looking C8 Corvette Stingray dressed all in Black.

These two American autos found each other recently on the starting line at the Las Vegas International Speedway and we wonder if the Tesla and the Corvette owner were both thinking the same thing: “Oh, s**t! I have to race against that?”

Each brand does offer a higher level of performance like the Plaids and the Z06s, and we could see fans of both manufacturers suggesting a different outcome if only those performance models would have lined up opposite of the other. However, you run what you brung, and the C8 Corvette Stingray certainly seemed eager to play.

As the Christmas tree lights up, the Model 3 is first off the line but he was either sleeping or was daydreaming about the Plaid’s third motor as the Stingray passed him within 100-feet of the starting line and then never looked back. The Stingray finished the race with a time of 12.29 seconds at 114 mph vs the Tesla’s very pedestrian run of 13.84 seconds at 98 mph.

  1. Something not right with both cars. Times don’t reflect potential for either car even though vette should take down a model 3 by a couple tenths. However if it was a Plaid…

  2. The C8 looks way better than the Model 3 from every angle. The C8 should beat the Model 3 every time even if it’s driver wasn’t asleep at the wheel.
