[VIDEO] Beating a Ford GT with a 2023 Corvette Z06

The week(s) leading up to Christmas Break can be a tedious one for working folks lucky enough to get some time off at the end of the year. These dog days are usually filled with extended bathroom breaks, monotonous year-end paperwork, and the forced awkwardness of company holiday parties. We tried to help fellow members of the Crossed Flag flock power through all of this by sharing as many Corvette videos as we could. Of these pleasant and easily consumed clips, one of the more popular was the CarWow bit where a British man drove a NASCAR driver’s C8 Z06 down a runway next to a 21st Century Ford GT.

Besides the lack of C8Z and GT duking it out in their natural environment – the road course – our greatest disappointment in this video came from not getting to see what difference Jesse Iwuji, the professional racer in question, could have made in the straight-line contests. Well, as it turns out, Jesse saved that footage for his personal YouTube channel, and, even in mashing the gas and keeping the wheel pointed straight, a skilled driver is the best mod in the book!

Firstly I want to say thank you to the fellow who agreed to race me. Not everyone is willing to race a $1 million car against a future $1 million car ;). We all know the Ford GT has had the C8 Z06 number in every other video we’ve all seen online, but this time I knew what the perfect combo would be to race against one, and do what no other C8 Z06 has done to date. This was a full 1/4 mi run on a dusty airstrip!
