For enthusiasts, there’s not much better than the day you drive home in your new Corvette.

That is, except for picking it up at the National Corvette Museum, right down the street from the factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky, as part of the R8C Delivery program.

For $1,495, an owner and family enjoy the thrill of seeing their new car sitting on Corvette Boulevard, roped off from the general public, with their name on a sign right next to it. They also get a guided tour through the museum, an in-depth explanation of the goodies on the car, and an exciting ride out of the building in their car, with NCM staff and visitors clapping enthusiastically, winding up right next to a big billboard perfect for photos.

The R8C program just reached a big milestone on Nov. 16, with the delivery of the 2,500th 2023 Corvette – a Hypersonic Gray over Two-Tone Blue Z06 belonging to Chuck and Angela Harbour.

“We’re just real excited,” a smiling Angela said in a YouTube video recounting the delivery. “People here are wonderful. I mean, they treat us like royalty when we come in.”

Says Chuck: “It’s just a great experience!”

This was the second R8C Delivery and sixth Corvette overall for the Harbours, who bought their new Z06 through Duncan Chevrolet in Stratford, Texas.

For the 2023 model year, the National Corvette Museum team wound up delivering 2,525 Corvettes, more than twice the previous model year record of 1,276 deliveries in 2021.

Having participated in the program myself during the summer of 2020, with the delivery of a Torch Red 2020 coupe, I can testify to the excitement about taking part. One big highlight for me was actually being able to see the car sitting on Corvette Boulevard the day before our arrival in Bowling Green, thanks to the cameras that broadcast 24 hours a day on the NCM website.

It’s definitely worth the extra charge for the once-in-a-lifetime thrill of being a special guest at the National Corvette Museum – and making the acquisition of your Corvette even more distinctive.
