Corvettes for Sale: Hennessey Selling Its ‘Benchmark’ 2023 Corvette Z06 on eBay

Well, here’s a fine slice of closure that we rarely get when covering specific Corvettes! We’ve been hunting the Hypersonic Gray 2023 Corvette Z06/Z07 of Hennessey Performance Engineering like Elmer Fudd during “wabbit season,” and now the sun seems to be setting on its impressive content bender with the Texas super tuner.

For the next 10 days, potential buyers will have the chance to become the second owner of the 1,500-mile C8Z via eBay Motors. While the exotic coupe with carbon fiber wheels and aero carried an original MSRP of $162,760, HPE hopes that inventory shortages and association with its brand can lead to a hefty profit. The asking price currently sits at a healthy $240,000. Now, you might be thinking, “But it’s a Hennessey car; it has to have some special sauce, no?”

Well, yes, and no. Unlike most eBay listings from Hennessey, there aren’t any aftermarket superchargers or anything like that involved here; mechanically, this car is 100% stock. Other than getting your hands on a phenomenal specification of a very hard-to-get vehicle, the $77k upcharge can be chalked up to the celebrity status of a car that has garnered hundreds of thousands of clicks on a popular YouTube channel and a “Hennessey” windshield banner to commemorate the Gemini Project’s time in Sealy. If that seems like an exorbitant price for a plus-sized sticker, don’t forget that a similar build just hammered for 10% more than Hennessey is asking; as they once said, don’t hate the player, hate the game.

The silver lining for those of us who aren’t about to drop a quarter-mill on a Corvette is that outside of adrenaline-soaked in-person auctions, it looks like the “game” is rapidly slowing, and MSRP+ Zs across the board are either coming down to Earth, or sitting untouched in showrooms, but if anyone can buck the bear market, it’s this distinguished Z06 from Hennessey. Other than the optimistic valuation, the lack of mods is the most notable thing about this apparent white flag moment. Did HPE throw in the towel when it comes to reliably extracting more power from the LT6? Did they buy another car to tinker with after getting baseline numbers from this one? Time will tell, but we’re happy to see this particular example retain its naturally aspirated calling card!
