If you’re looking for an inexpensive – and unusual – Corvette to take to your local car show next year, you might want to check into this 1998 convertible for sale on craigslist in Indiana.
This one-owner Medium Purple Pearl Metallic Corvette is being offered for $15,995 by a dealer in New Castle, a small town northeast of Indianapolis.
It’s one of just 152 convertibles painted in that one-year-only color and comes with a contrasting light oak canvas top. (Chevy also offered another darker shade of purple that year – the Pace Car Purple for the 1,163 Indy convertibles.)
The seller says this Corvette – which has 79,769 miles and has a clean Carfax – remains “in beautiful condition” 25 years later and adds that it “runs and drives excellent” with its standard 345-horsepower LS1 V8 engine. The Light Oak interior is described as “absolutely spotless,” and the car also has “nearly new” tires.
The ’98s were the first year you could buy a C5 convertible, which included a separate trunk with outside access for the first time since ’62. A total of 11,849 ragtops were built that year, with another 19,235 coupes for a total production of 31,084 – up considerably over the slow first-year rollout of 9,752 in ’97.
The seller says “these are hard to find cars in this condition especially in this price range.” Would you consider this rare shade for your garage?

Very nice daily driver….
It might be a nice daily driver but it’s an off color for a Corvette. It looks like the right front fender has been repainted too. The Challenger parked next to it is a better shade of purple. I wouldn’t be interested in buying this Corvette.
I would buy a C8 that color but with a darker interior.
