Our friend Matt from the RearWheelDrive YouTube channel is back on the blog once again for driving his Corvette Z06 like it was meant to be enjoyed. In this video, Matt took his nearly-green wrapped Z06 over to the East Coast of Florida for a Spectator Drags event at the New Smyrna Speedway.
We’ve seen Matt complete in a couple other Spectator Drags held at Cleetus McFarland’s Freedom Factory and he’s won there previously as well. But that is a 3/8-mile track while the New Smyrna circuit is a half-mile track, so speeds should be higher. But that’s okay as Matt’s 2023 Corvette Z06 is up for the challenge!
The contestants at the Spectator Drags consists of seven vehicles which include three Corvettes, three Mustangs, and a Dodge. The winner of the event takes home winner’s pot valued at $500.
Matt’s first race is against the previous champion in a Black Mustang which really gives him a run for the money, and then he takes on two other Corvettes. See how he finishes in the video below:

Good job Z06 driver
Ya that dude needs to learn how to drive that car, that Black Stang should not of been able to get even remotely close to that Z. Let off way to much in the corners. At least learn how to use the awesome ZO6 in it’s element.
Who do they think is going to win when you put a C8 Z06 up against a C4?
This was as DUMB as the Z06 against the CT5-V
No way the mustang had better traction than either of the corvettes. Neither Corvette driver showed that they could drive on a track. Scared of the track look at how they didn’t have track vision 🏁👀
Agreed, Mike. With equal drivers that ferd turd craptang wouldn’t be able to come close to any of the Chevy Corvettes!
