Jerry Lee Lewis apparently “knew what he liked” when it came to cars.

Just witness this 1954 Corvette roadster with approximately 21,000 miles currently for sale on Facebook Marketplace in Carleton, Michigan.

The story goes that the famous rock ‘n’ roll pioneer once owned the car but had it repossessed in 1980 by the IRS to pay back taxes. It’s said to have been in storage ever since. “Great balls of fire!”

The listing does include a video of the car running, if you’d like to find out what a classic C1 “Blue Flame” V6 engine sounds like as it idles. That engine, by the way, produced a whopping 150 or 155 horsepower, with a camshaft design change during the model year accounting for the increase.

Unfortunately, not many other details are offered about the condition of this early Corvette, one of 3,640 built in the second year of production. Photos with the listing do seem to indicate that the car is in pretty good shape after all these years, though, and should be a good starting point for a serious restoration, if desired. Too bad it’s not a different color since only 404 of these ’54s didn’t leave the factory in a color other than white.

On the other hand, the seller does claim to have “all documents” to go with the car, including a notice of the public auction sale on Dec. 10, 1980 at which a 1979 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II and a 1977 Cadillac Deville Renaissance were also being auctioned off.

The current owner says he doesn’t have a set price in mind for the Corvette and is just looking for offers.

How much would you pay for this Corvette taken away from Jerry Lee Lewis by the IRS decades ago, and would that ownership history influence your offer?
