Corvettes for Sale: Stunning 1966 Corvette Restomod on Bring a Trailer

Which side of the fence are you sitting on concerning this absolutely beautiful 1966 Corvette Sting Ray restomod that’s being auctioned on Bring a Trailer?

Are you like the fellow who commented: “I think this car rises to the level of a work of art and is meant to be properly cared for, viewed and appreciated. If I had it I would only drive it enough to keep it in good mechanical shape and stare at it in awe the rest of the time.”

Or are you like the guy who wrote: “I would guess that 90% of cars that cost half a mil to build were never meant to be driven. But to me, that is like planning on going to the moon, engineering all the tech and building the rocket only to never launch it because you want to keep it perfect, etc.”

Regardless of how you feel about the motivation behind this car, there’s no denying the meticulous attention to detail that eventually left the owner since 2016 having an investment of more than $454,000 once it was completed at Kevin’s Restoration in Walnut Grove, Washington.

We’ll hit a few of the highlights for you, starting with the metallic amber orange paint with a gray stinger, rechromed or replaced bumpers and trim, and Allen’s side pipes with chrome covers and aftermarket side mirrors.

Hidden beneath that gorgeous body is a Street Shop C7-based chassis, along with C7 Corvette suspension parts with Hyperco coilovers and QA1 adjustable shocks as well as a Flaming River power steering rack and brakes with C7 calipers, slotted rotors, and Wilwood master cylinder.

The mechanicals continue with a fuel-injected 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine topped by a custom-painted cover and enhanced with tubular exhaust headers and a custom Dewitt’s aluminum radiator with electric fans. Also added was a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission, with an LS7 clutch disc, pressure plate, and flywheel.

The interior features C5-sourced bucket seats covered in brown leather, along with Vintage Air climate control, custom center console with cupholders (who out there would be brave enough to drink a cherry Slushee sitting in the driver’s seat?), square weave carpeting, White Lightning shifter, power windows, Alpine infotainment enter, and Focal cabin speakers.

Continuing our earlier theme, who among you would be brave enough to drive this car to the local Walmart and park it in the space next to the buggy return area – for two hours on a Saturday afternoon?

  1. Awesome Corvette! If I owned it I wouldn’t let it sit around like a museum piece collecting dust. I would drive it a lot but only on pretty days. I would never leave it parked at any damn Walmart period.

  2. Hey Everybody – I have seen many of these new custom Corvette projects in person at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale in the past few years (Kevin Hart’s rings a bell) and this absolute beauty is now at the top of the list of most outrageous and unique Corvettes ever built.
I congratulate the builders and the owner for spending the money, time and energy to create this Corvette BUT dump those bucket seats as they do not belong in this generation of a perfect Corvette and get some new frames from Corvette Central that match the year of 1966 with a lighter color of leather. And add headrests just to spice up the interior.
It is a beauty so good luck getting your reserve met. Or call Barrett-Jackson!
