Corvettes for Sale: Only 20K Miles on this 1992 Corvette Convertible

Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder, but this 1992 Corvette convertible currently being auctioned at no reserve on Bring a Trailer certainly caught my eye.

After all, how many times have you seen a C4 in a striking color combination like this Medium Quasar Blue Metallic paint with a striking white ragtop and Arctic White leather interior?

It’s not likely you have seen one since only 1,043 of the ’92 Corvettes were painted Quasar Blue, the second-lowest behind the 678 in Yellow. Furthermore, with only 5,875 convertibles produced that year and only 1,461 coupe and convertible customers choosing the white interior, that makes this blue car quite the rare bird, indeed.

Adding icing to the cake is the fact that this car has been driven only 20,000 miles over the past 31 years by two owners residing in northern Illinois, and furthermore it’s one of only about 25 percent of the total production to leave the Bowling Green factory with a six-speed manual transmission. That year also notably marked the debut of the much more powerful LT1 engine that saw horsepower bumped up to 300 from 250. This one is also nicely equipped with electronic air conditioning, Delco-Bose music system, and six-way power seats for both occupants.

Two other high-dollar options chosen by the original owner were Selective Ride and Handling at a cost of $1,695 and the Arctic White Leather interior for $1,180 – leading to a final MSRP of $45,208.

Extensive documentation is pictured with the listing, including receipts for maintenance over the years.

With C8 prices continuing to rise with each model year, some enthusiasts like this writer are considering other more retro options, including often-overlooked beautiful C4s like this one.

With six days left in the auction, the high bid has climbed to only $12,500 – not bad for a very out-of-the-ordinary Corvette that definitely stands out from the crowd.

  1. I like that color combo. I remember seeing just a few Quasar Blue Metallic Corvettes in the early 90’s and I thought it was a really cool Corvette color. Bright Aqua Metallic was another great C4 color in the 90’s.
