Last year during the Corvettes at Carlisle show, our friends at Callaway Cars revealed they were finally working on a supercharged version of the C8 Corvette Stingray and they showed off a 2.3-liter TripleCooled Supercharger system featuring a roots-type Eaton TVS2300 topping the Stingray’s LT2 V8 engine. Callaway stated at the time that production would start sometime in 2023 and they began collecting $1000 deposits from interested customers.

Today it looks like Callaway is closer than ever to releasing their supercharger package as they recently gave additional details following the wrap-up of their performance testing, which they say also occurred during some of the hottest days “in recorded weather history.” Callaway says these stats represent some of the best performance of any Callaway Corvette ever produced. They are:

• Max. Horsepower: 687 bhp @ 6450 rpm
• Max. Torque: 643 lb-ft @ 4450 rpm
• Acceleration: 0-60 mph 2.67 sec
• Quarter-Mile ET / Speed: 10.64 sec @ 129 mph

As you know, the C8 Corvette Stingray comes from the factory with 495 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. Callaway’s package adds 192 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque which is more than the mighty Z06’s 670-hp and 470-lb-ft of torque.

One of the reasons it’s taking this long for a new supercharged Callaway Corvette to come to fruition was GM’s Global-B architecture which up until recently required a piggy-backed system to bypass the engine control module on the C8 Corvette. However, the word as of last year was that Callaway’s long relationship with Chevrolet was finally paying off as the engineering company was allowed access to the ECM to make programming and tuning changes to the car.

While no final price has yet been made public, it’s expected to start somewhere in the $20Ks. The Supercharged Callaway Corvette can be ordered from an authorized Callaway dealer. New Corvettes are shipped directly to Callaway’s Connecticut and West Coast factories for conversion before being shipped back to the dealer for delivery. Callaway is also offering a supercharger package for 2020-2023 C8 Corvettes through their “second chance” program. Callaway backs their system with a three-year/36K mile powertrain warranty that supplements the vehicle’s factory warranty. That can also be upgraded to a five-year/60,000-mile Callaway Powertrain Service Contract. All Callaway vehicles feature Fifty-state emission compliance.

  1. 687? Why stop there? Someone out there wants 1000HP! The flares look better than the bolt-on stuff that’s out there now, but 20K is too much to pay for unusable HP on the street. Just my opinion of course.
