Virginia law enforcement officers are asking the public for help in locating a black 1981 Corvette stolen from a repair shop in Crofton, Virginia early Wednesday morning.
The Sheriff’s Office in Fluvanna County – which is located southeast of Charlottesville – says an unidentified white man is believed to have stolen the car.
Around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, the man walked from the woods into the parking lot of Goodson’s Auto Repair on Village Oaks Boulevard and climbed into two other vehicles before finally driving off in the Corvette, which has a red and black interior and bears Virginia license plates 6559DY.
The Corvette has a couple of identifying characteristics, including non-functioning taillights and a missing radio antenna with the hole that has been patched over.
Police say the suspect was heading in the direction of the BP gas station, turning right out of the Crofton business section onto Lake Monticello Road toward South Boston Road.
If you have information about the crime, call Deputy W. White at (434) 589-8211.
