Chevrolet has long history of offering VIN 001 Corvettes at Barrett-Jackson and we just got the notice that the new 2024 Corvette E-Ray will continue that tradition this April during the 2023 Palm Beach Auction.

The sale of the first performance hybrid C8 Corvette will benefit the “DonorsChoose” charity with 100% of proceeds going to help the non-profit “whose mission is for anyone to help a classroom in need, moving closer to a nation where students in every community have the tools and experiences essential for a great education.”

The E-Ray was officially revealed earlier this January, and we can’t get enough of it with its combined 655-horsepower coming from the 495-hp LT2 V8 engine powering the rear wheels while a 160-hp electric motor powers the front wheels. The unique set-up gives the Corvette its first eAWD system that is capable of 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds, making it the quickest Corvette ever produced.

The electric motor in the E-Ray is powered by a 1.9 kWh battery back that is located inside the Corvette’s central tunnel located between the seats. There is no plug in for the E-Ray as its battery pack is recharged by braking and coasting. One of the exciting features of the E-Ray is the ability to start up in “Stealth Mode” to allow quiet neighborhood exits.

The E-Ray shares the same widebody design as the Corvette Z06, so its 3.6 inches wider than the Corvette Stingray. With the eAWD system allowing for three season driving, the car comes standard with Michelin’s all-season tires and Brembo’s carbon ceramnic brakes. The MSRP for the new Corvette starts at $104,295 for the 1LZ base model. The buyer at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach is bidding on a loaded 3LZ Coupe model.

Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach auction has been the home of some great VIN 001 Corvette auctions over the years. In 2013 the company brought the first 2014 model-year Corvette convertible, followed by the first 2015 Z06 Corvette coupe during the 2014 auction, and last year Chevrolet sent the first retail production 2023 Corvette Z06 convertible across the Palm Beach Auction block. Each of those sales brought in $1 million dollars on the auction block, with 100% of the funds going to charity.

“In 2022, we had the privilege of auctioning the first retail productions of the highly anticipated 2023 Z06 coupe and convertible models for charity in Scottsdale and Palm Beach,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “Each of those sales on the Barrett-Jackson auction block were iconic moments in Barrett-Jackson’s charitable history, and I can’t wait to see the excitement in the arena that this groundbreaking E-Ray will surely bring.”

Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach Auction will be held April 13-15th at the SOuth Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach, FL. For registration and bidding details, check out www.Barrett-Jackson.com.

  2. Hendricks glass top on a C2 chassis as a board room table is awesome. Too bad no pictures are allowed.
