Do you suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder? Does seeing patterns that don’t match up make you crazy? You might want to look away from this C8 Corvette Z06 exhaust setup where we see that one side isn’t exactly the same as the other.

An owner named Edward G. shared a pic of his 2023 Z06 exhaust to the E-Ray/Z06 Facebook Group and asked other owners to chime in on whether or not both of the outside ports have two rings of small holes or just the one like his left tip has. Edward asks:

Can other Z06 owners check their exhaust baffles and see if they both have two rows of holes or is it like mine where the left baffle has only one row of holes.

With this post on the E-Ray/Z06 Facebook Group and another one on the Corvette Forum, the general consensus from other owners is they all have the two rings of small holes on the outside. In fact, no other Z06 owner has confirmed they have a similar looking exhaust, which makes Edward’s Z06 somewhat of a unicorn.

Edward showed the car to his dealership, and at first they suggested they could order that part. He came back and said the dealer told him that to fix it, they would have change out the entire exhaust system.

As a Corvette enthusiast, we see Edward’s dilemma and wonder if you could ever look at the exhaust without your eyes being drawn to the “incorrect” tip when both are supposed to look this:

Of course, Corvette owners got some jokes to go along with the situation:

• Jim K. said “Somebody has OCD

• John P. suggested “grab the drill bit.

• Lawrence E. said, “Would be upset also, look at all the extra weight probably makes the car push in left hand corners,” to which Edward replied, “I wasn’t upset before, but now that you mention all the extra weight, I am now!

We can imagine the owner in the future trying to explain the unique feature to NCRS judges, who would of course deduct the points because it’s not representative of the Corvette Z06s driven off the line. To us, it makes the car just a little unique as it’s like a miss-stamped coin that becomes more collectible because of the factory error.

  1. Lol little pinholes. Need bigger pipes. Solution is to start unbolting everything from the headers back on that garage queen and replace all that heavy OEM emissions equipment with unobstructed free-flowing tubes. Then get it out on a track and drive it like the entire azz is on fire. There are no other alternatives so don’t bother arguing.

  2. As long as you are not on your knees staring into those pipes you will never think about it. I agree remove the this exhaust, hang it on the wall of your garage and put on a race exhaust system!

  3. Lost 5 horsepower. On the bright side he owns 1 of 1 and may be worth a lot of money 25 years from now.

  4. To ease any anxiety this look might create, I’ll explain the difference and why it exists. The left or drivers side has less holes that creates a condition that less exhaust sound is emitted. The right side emits more sound which has been carefully tuned so that the driver hears the very balanced and beautiful sounds of a Chevrolet V8 in all its glory.

  5. That is odd, but probably explained by the company making the exhaust. Most likely an incorrectly drilled baffle got in the stack of parts during assembly. Seriously doubt you could hear the difference.
