[VIDEO] Man the Battleship! Here's the New Sea Wolf Gray Exterior on the 2024 Corvette E-Ray

For the 2024 model year, Chevrolet is introducing three new colors and one of these new exteriors is called Sea Wolf Gray Tri-coat. The new color appears to be what is referred to as a “battleship” color that have become popular in recent years. Our own Alex Sommers wrote about the C8 Corvette offering a similar shade to Nardo Gray back in early 2022 and now it’s here!

All of Corvette’s competitors have been offering their own pastel grays which include the aforementioned Nardo Gray from Audi, Grigio Medio from Ferrari, and Grigio Telesto that is found on the Lamborghini. Porsche seems to have more than most with battleship shades that have names like Dolphin Grey, Chalk, Grey Black, and Sport Classic Grey.

As part of the launch for the 2024 Corvette E-Ray, we have some video of the Sea Wolf Gray Corvette driving in the snow. The video comes from YouTuber “JerryRigEverything” who has 7.5 million subscribers. If you have never heard of him, it’s perhaps because he’s not a full time autovlogger, but occasionally dips his toes into the subject generally when it has to do with electric vehicles.

Like Emelia Hartford’s E-Ray encounter, Jerry Rig Everything was invited to the professional video shoot in snowy Utah that was featured in the E-Ray’s official launch video, and that’s where he catches up with the Sea Wolf Gray E-Ray.

With every new color, we always like to reserve the right to see it in person before we render our opinions, but we get enough of a look here in the video to see that this doesn’t appear to be a metallic color, and that it’s flat like the other pastels on the Corvette color palate that also includes Amplify Orange and Rapid Blue. There’s a certain market for these colors and we think Sea Wolf Gray will probably be ordered in decent numbers once it officially goes on sale.

We imagine that Sea Wolf Gray looks best when you have a lot of contrasting Carbon Flash or Visible Carbon Fiber. The E-Ray Prototype shown in the video has a Visible Carbon Flash roof and visible carbon fiber front splitter and rockers. Black wheels would also work but Chevy chose the Silver five-spoke wheels with matching chrome badging.

On the 2024 Corvette E-Ray visualizer, Sea Wolf Gray is denoted with an “Extra Cost” notation, so buyers can expect to shell out an additional $500 to $995 for the color.

  1. Ugly, and boring it’s the color of concrete that makes this car invisible on the road so people will pull out in front of you.

  2. Cool name, but it looks like primer gray… Many of the C8 colors have left me scratching my head…

  3. I love this color but I know it will take a beating down here in the comments, so I have to chime in.

These “concrete” colors are understated and bring a unique flare to the table that Black and Arctic White (which is one of my top-five choices, too) can’t match; it is exactly what I wanted from the far too light CMG when it was first announced.

With Bright Red calipers and the Adrenaline Red Dipped interior, this color will be an absolute showstopper!

  4. With this color, it would be best to show the car to folks while it’s parked in your garage, touting the fact that it matches your drill press and your Bridgeport milling machine if’n ya haz one!

Ugly, ugly, ugly . . . but that’s just my opinion.

That said, I bet that the color will only be available for one year or maybe even less.

  5. This is worse than Matte Black!! Primer color and that fugly Cati WTF? Whomever is authorizing these colors needs to have their Biden Administration crack pipe revoked!! Where are the super car colors? Purple, Galaxy blue, Color shifting Pearl white or Black, Lizard Green. Also where is the vertical doors that GM has a patient on?

Also why is the cost nearly the same as Z06 for a lard Azz 4000 pound car? Give me the Grand Sport for 80k

  6. Is this gray even metallic? Maybe they should name it Battle Ship Gray. Cacti? Is that the color for patio furniture at grandma’s house? If you are going to run with the supercars, try to look more like them. Bright exciting colors…please. Even if you have to charge for it…I mean more money.

  7. What is this, a front porch with wheels, if you really like this color, obviously the only taste you have is in your mouth, yuck!

  8. THIS COLOR IS UGLY AS CONCRETE, AND COMPLETELY BORING. AND THE WHEELS ARE UGLY AS THE COLOR. I THOUGHT ORANGE WAS HIDEOUS, BUT THIS COLOR IS BORING AND UGLY. WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS COLOR SHOULD BE FIRED. AND THESE UGLY WHEELS !

  9. I like the color, sea wolf gray? The
“Sea view” immediately popped up in my head. A little military looking perhaps but clean and tough looking in my opinion. We’ll see how the color fairs over the years. Notice a lot of the new “gray” on many different autos.
