[VIDEO] EXCLUSIVE: 2024 Corvette Z06 GT3R, C8.R and NASCAR Garage 56 Le Mans Racer Testing at Sebring

Thanks to our new best friend, we have some exclusive video of the new 2024 Corvette Z06 GT3R racer as it spent Monday testing at Sebring International Raceway with the IMSA No. 3 C8.R racecar. Also sharing the track is Hendrick Motorsport’s Garage 56 Le Mans racecar!

Our source tells us that trailers onsite included those Corvette Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, Michelin, and Goodyear. The Garage 56 Le Mans racer is supported by Goodyear Tires.

This the only the second time the Z06 GT3R has been seen with Chevrolet sharing a “First Look” at the new racecar back in early October as the car was undergoing its shakedown run at GM’s Milford Proving Ground in Michigan.

Since then, we’ve had a bit more of the program come into focus with Corvette Racing driver Tommy Milner assuming the duties of lead test driver of the Z06 GT3R in addition to returning to IMSA as the No. 3 C8.R’s endurance driver at the Rolex 24, Sebring, Watkins Glen, and Petit Le Mans.

Details of the car aren’t all the clear other than we know it is powered by the same 5.5L DOHC V8 engine that is now appearing in the customer-delivered Z06s.

In addition to building and testing the new Corvette Z06 GT3R, Chevrolet is also working to create a customer support infrastructure with deliveries beginning sometime later in 2023. The expectation is that 10 cars will be built for 2024 and another 10 coming in 2025 with the 20 combined hitting the homologation total needed to race the car without a waiver. In 2022 and now for 2023, Corvette Racing is running with a waiver as its GTE/GTLM spec car has been detuned and mostly converted to GT3 specs.

The Corvette Z06 GT3R should debut at the 2024 Rolex 24 at Daytona with both GTD PRO and GTD teams expected to compete in IMSA. For Le Mans, we may see just a customer GT3 team as the Pro class appears to have been eliminated.

The other surprise here in the video is the Hendrick Motorsports Garage 56 Le Mans racer which just completed its first track tests last month. The Chevy Camaro ZL1 was driven at VIR last month by former Corvette Racing driver Mike Rockenfeller. We are not sure who was driving the Stock Car at Sebring.
