[VIDEO] Throttle House Drag and Roll Races the 840-hp Dodge Demon vs the 2023 Corvette Z06

Since the 2023 Corvette Z06 has now been in customer’s hands, we’ve only witnessed a few head-to-head matchups between America’s newest supercar versus “the world,” so each new encounter is definitely worth your viewing time.

We previously have seen the 2023 Corvette Z06 take the win against a Porsche 911 GT3 and an Audi R8 V10 thanks to Hagerty, and Emelia vanquished her Ferrari 458 and a Lamborghini Huracan EVO with ease on an airstrip.

Now we have the Canadian Throttle House duo of Thomas and James in California and they race the 840 hp Dodge Demon against the 670-hp Corvette Z06. The first drag race is from a dig and then the two cars go at it again in a roll race. We are not spoiling the outcome, but it’s fun so give it a watch!

From Throttle House via YouTube:

The 2023 Corvette C8 Z06 ($128,000 in Canada, $106,000 in the US) is undoubtedly loud, brash, and ripping fast. But the Dodge Demon ($109,995 original msrp in Canada, $84,995 in the US) has been tearing up drag strips and revving at traffic lights since 2018. So what happens when you pit these two American monsters against one another at Willow Springs Raceway in California? The Demon has a significant power and torque advantage, but the C8 Z06 has multiple weight advantages. One being that it is simply lighter, but the other is where the weight of the engine resides – over the rear wheels. This makes it easier for the Corvette to find traction off a launch and hopefully help it avoid pesky wheel spin.

Thomas takes up the helm of the Dodge Demon and James is in the C8 Z06. Things don’t always go as you might expect in a drag race!

  1. Put these 2 cars on a road course & it would not even be close, the Corvette would destroy the Dodge. Dodges do 1 thing, they go kind of fast in a straight line. They don’t corner or handle worth a crap, don’t brake worth a crap, no skid pad grip or slalom agility. A few years ago they took a base C7 Stingray vs a Dodge hellcat on a road course & the base C7 Stingray blew the hellcat away. Dodges are not performance cars. Chevy Corvettes are world class performance super cars. Look @ the tires on the 2 cars, the Corvette has big, fat tires. The Dodge- skiny 10 speed bicycle tires, pathetic. Chevy Corvettes rule, Dodges break down. Sorry Dodge fans.

  2. Well said Dave. Plus the Vette looks a million and a half times better from any and all angles. One year on the Demon anyone can get a Vette and the Dodges can’t pass a gas station without stopping. The only thing I have seen that is competitive is the Stang Shelby GT500 and it’s ugly as hell. I’d be embarrassed to own a Dodge. One of the contractors at work said his wife has a new Challenger Scat Pack or HellCat can’t remember, he hates that car. Always in the shop, lousy gas mileage, doesn’t stop worth crap and doesn’t turn worth crap. I asked what he drives, he chuckled and smiled “a C5 Corvette”. He gives her shit all the time about her POS Mopar, he said she’s about had it and is talking trading it for a C5-C6 Vette. I told him that’s the way it should be:)

  3. The C8 Stingray and Z06 are stylish modern day rocket ships. The Challenger is still an oversized, overweight burnt out muscle car dating back to the early 70s.
