[PICS] How to Visually Differentiate Between the 2023 Corvette Z06 and the 2024 Corvette E-Ray

Now that we have the look of the 2024 Corvette E-RAY from Thursday’s visualizer leak, we went searching through our SPIED archives and it looks like we already had one of the very first E-RAY captured test fleet cars (CTFs) from August!

At the time, we thought it was a regular Z06 (as it has Z06 badges on the side) with the EFY body-color trim. But the order guide didn’t have that option available and now we know why! Chevy was hiding the E-Ray in plain sight, disguised as the Z06. Here are two CTF widebodies with EFY trim and the corner-mounted exhaust:

In the past, Chevy has offered different models that utilized the same widebody structure. For the C7 generation, Chevy offered three different models that essentially used the same bodywork. The Grand Sport and Z06 models were very closely aligned, while the ZR1 did have a completely redesigned front fascia. But other indicators helped to visually identify which model car you saw. The Grand Sport had red brake light lenses, while the Z06s were clear. Each of the three models also had a different side vent design behind the front wheels.

Our friend John at the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com also had a similar thought about the visial changes between the two models and created this comparison graphic below featuring a Rapid Blue Z06 and Riptide Blue Metallic E-Ray:

Z06 vs E-RAY Comparison

For the C8 Corvette Z06 and E-Ray, the visual clues from the sides will be the body-color trim (E-RAY) versus the carbon flash black metallic trim on the Z06. Then you have the redesigned front fascia in body color for the E-RAY while the front of the Z06 remains mostly black with the carbon flash grill and the removable panel to increase cooling on track days. The car’s rear will be differentiated by where the exhaust is mounted as the E-Ray retains the corner-mounted exhaust and the Z06 has the center quad pipes.

  1. Let’s visualize that the MSRP will be similar to the Z06. Let’s visualize the YouTubers cutting in front of the rest of us standing in line with our $5000 deposits. Let’s visualize parts constraints. It just might be faster from a stop and around the track than a Z06.

  2. I don’t like the front nose, I prefer the Z06 over that E ray anytime of the week. Go Back To The Drawing Board , Looks Like Shit!!!!!!! Get some ideas off of Ferrari, they always do it right. My C6 grand sport did it right.

  3. The curb weight and base price has me seriously concerned. Max premium it’s worth over a base C8 is $10k. And that is pushing it.

  4. The front is the same, the trim is just not Carbon Flash color. I hope that there is an option available to get all that trim done in Carbon Flash so I don’t have to have it all removed and repainted. Of course that will have me getting closer to the Z06 base price. If they wanted to be distinctive, they could have eliminated the tail on the “wishbone” side trim. I know…then the fenders would have had to be different.
