[VIDEO] This is What a 2023 Corvette Z06 with a Straight Pipe Exhaust Sounds Like (LOUD!)

YouTuber StreetSpeed 717 recently took his new Corvette Z06 over to the folks at Fabspeed Motorsport and had his stock factory exhaust pulled for something with a bit more sound. Okay, a lot more sound based on this new video.

This is actually part 2 of this project, and it opens with Mike returning to Fabspeed to pick up the Z06. He explains that the new system has no mufflers, just SportCats and a race X-pipe that connects the engine to the new exhaust ports. Once he sees the finished product, he is very impressed as the exhaust tips have a nice carbon fiber surround. One other benefit to the exhaust swap was the savings of around 40 lbs in weight as compared to the factory stock exhaust.

But the proof is in the pudding, and upon start-up, the cacophony of sound hits Mike squarely in the face and he screams, “What!…Dude!…Holy…!” Laughing, he says the camera won’t do it justice, “but that’s insane.” “That is loud man…it’s so loud,” says the youtuber. We also get a before and after sound comparison and the Z06 is now definitely off the leash with the straight pipe exhaust system.

Mike says the new exhaust sounds exactly like a race car, and as he heads out to the parking lot, a couple of donuts are also performed in the wet parking lot. Mike then heads out on the road, and we have the opportunity to sample the sound from inside the cockpit. I don’t know if this is an exhaust you could live with on long drives, but it would certainly be fun at the local Corvette show!

One other thing I caught in this video is that when Mike first walks into the shop, the rear high wing was raised up about three inches higher than stock as Fabspeed Motorsports looks to be creating some sort of extension device to make the placement higher? As Mike drove the car out of the shop, the wing was back in its normal position but you can see it in this screen grab here:

  1. Well hell, any car will do donuts on wet pavement. I saw a vid recently of a red C8 in LA trying to do donuts in front of a crowd and it wouldn’t do it. Reminded me of a man who was “trying to perform” but couldn’t get it up.

  2. Wow, sounds killer. Kinda funny sitting in that shop surrounded by German toys. But why did the HP numbers come in lower then stock, I must have missed something.

  3. Jackass ruined a good car. Typical crap the guy that wears the sunglasses all the time does.

  4. Am I the only person who is done with YouTubers’ manufactured exuberance, particularly with cars? It has gotten cringeworthy.

  5. HEY KEVIN THE HP NUMBERS ARE AT THE WHEELS NOT THE FLYWHEEL.

FABSPEED HAS AN OPTION THAT INCLUDES THE EXHAUST VALVES, SO YOU CAN GET A QUIETER SOUND WHEN IN CRUISING MODE.
MIKE JUST GOT SPORT CATS, NO MUFFLERS, AND SAVED 30 POUNDS.

HE HAS DONE DONUTS IN A C8 ON DRY PAVEMENT.

  6. HOW ABOUT THOSE THRUSH GLASSPACKS WITH THE WOODPECKER ON THEM.

The RMV inspecton stations love handing our REJECT STICKERS.
