General Motors has made no secret that it wants to share some of its iconic vehicles with enthusiasts in other countries.

That includes the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and the GMC Hummer EV, and GM’s new American vehicle import platform for China known as The Durant Guild recently hosted its first-ever test drive event there.

The Durant Drive allowed journalists and potential buyers to get their first look at the two vehicles before the rollout of GM’s business strategy in China that is currently being finetuned in anticipation of the first vehicles arriving in 2023.

During The Durant Drive – held in China’s Zhejiang province – guests were able to drive one of several 495-horsepower C8 Stingrays on the Zhejiang International Circuit race track.

The Hummer’s limited availability forced GM to have only one unit of the Hummer EV pickup on hand in Edition 1 trim, painted Interstellar White with a unique Lunar Horizon interior with bronze details.

But guests were allowed to go full throttle in the Hummer on the race track, as well as having an opportunity to get a feel for the vehicle’s off-road skills on a local mountain trail.

The two models are included in the upcoming portfolio of iconic American-made GM vehicles to be offered by The Durant Guild in China, complementing the wide range of other models from major brands built locally by the SAIC-GM joint venture.

  1. Coming soon…cheap Chinese knockoff aftermarket parts, complete with the “Official GM Product” markings!!!

    What a disgrace.

  2. WTF!!?? Gm what the hell are you doing?? Why China for christ sake?? These clowns are not our friends so why the hell would we even offer our best to these Commies?? All are way to much car/truck for these dim whits. You can’t even keep up with US orders and now this?? I agree what a DISGRACE.

  3. Think there would be a markup? I think it would be cheaper and quicker to come over here and buy them at the US dealer markups.

  4. The CCP has been methodically taking our country. Wonder how many GM shares they control? They already make parts for our car plants.
