We’re approaching the weekend before Thanksgiving faster than a 2023 Z06 in the flying mile, so that must mean it’s time for the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show (MCACN). The yearly “Pebble Beach of muscle cars” takes place this coming weekend Saturday, November 19th and Sunday, November 20th at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Il. Before you read much further, grab your calendar, delete anything that’s currently shown for this weekend, and then replace it with MCACN.

Building on momentum from 2021’s monster show, this year’s event with be another spectacle of horsepower and chrome. On the Corvette side of things, we’ll get to see a complete set of C2 Big Tank Corvettes in the Corvette Legends display. During its midyear production run, just 210 RPO N03 Corvettes were produced with their 36 gallon fuel tanks. Each car in the display is owned by Mike Johnson, who’s bringing them in all the way from New Mexico. When was the last time you saw a big tank Corvette, let alone one from each C2 model year?

As always, the Triple Diamond display sponsored by our friends at Corvette Central anchors the Corvette portion of the show. This class is solely for the best of the best Corvettes that have previously won an NCRS Top Flight award and a Bloomington Gold Certificate.

If you need even more Corvette content head over to the awards stage Saturday to catch Steve Garrett from the Corvette Today podcast talking all about his show or check out the famous 1960 LeMans winning #3 Corvette racer just inside the main entrance.

Elsewhere at MCACN, you’ll find the usual collections of unique and rare muscle cars. This year’s red carpet display is Mopar wing cars featuring a row of Superbirds flanked by a row of Daytonas. Then head over to the Aero Warriors reunion to see even more winged wonders. There’s a massive lineup of premiere unveilings on Saturday and the Kids Zone is open all weekend.

The list of invitational classes reads like a muscle car hall of fame. Some of the displays include the 50th anniversary Class of 1972, the 55th anniversary of 1967, Buick Gran Sports, Maple Leaf Muscle featuring cars from north of the border, and a group of performance station wagons. There’s even a malaise era muscle class this year featuring cars from the forgotten years of 1973 -1987. The Studebaker Legends and Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags each return as does Vintage Certification judging.

But wait, there’s more! Don’t miss the big-body 1962 muscle cars, Mr. Norm’s Grand Spaulding Dodge display or the 1965 Pre-Production Shelby GT350 Invitational. Celebrities like Courtney Hansen and Wayne Carini will be back in addition to many of our drag racing heroes from the past.

As usual, there’s way too much going on at MCACN to cover it all here. We didn’t even mention the Barn Finds, book signings, swap meet, vendors, cars for sale, live bands, muscle bikes, and informational seminars. You can get all the details on the MCACN website. While at the show, keep an eye out for our Detroit Bureau and be sure to say hello when you see Steve staring longingly at some piece of rolling automotive art.
