Sometimes even the simplest of shenanigans in a sports car are best left to the pros … or skilled amateurs.

Witness this embarrassing incident posted on Instagram by iamtailboogie, involving a Rapid Blue C8 Corvette convertible.

With a big group of onlookers watching, the Corvette driver attempts a simple donut in the middle of a city intersection but mistakenly slams his passenger-side rear wheel into a nearby curb, nearly hitting a utility pole and at least one young guy in the process.

As the Corvette hobbles off, doing its own version of the new “crabwalk” of the Hummer EV, the driver is hopefully aware that he has just done “a ba-a-a-d thing” to his expensive car. Some have speculated on Carscoops that in just a few seconds, this Corvette may have suffered a snapped control arm, a broken mounting point, or even worse. Ouch!

The lesson for others is to always make sure you have enough room to do a donut in the first place, especially in a 495-horsepower supercar like a mid-engine Corvette, and to do it in a place where no one or no car will be hurt.

As one reader on Carscoops summed up the incident: “Somewhere on the Corvette engineering team, someone is crying watching this video. Probably worked late developing a wheel hub, a control arm, an axle….just doing his best to make the Corvette the best he could within the constraints of such a massive bureaucracy as GM. And then some idiot with s— for brains curbs it during a low-iq street drifting event and completely destroys several meticulously engineered components.”

  1. Today’s chuckle for a dumbass – too bad he didn’t have a set of carbon fiber rims mounted, for a Hee-Haw instead of just a chuckle. 🙂

  2. Glad it is paid for and insurance will take care of it…oh wait….All these dopes are doing the uninsurable with a car they don’t own.

  3. I have no remorse for idiots. A similar fate befell a leased Ferrari F8 at a local Cars & Coffee a few weeks ago. We later learned the young driver, who was arrested on site, was high. This crap gives all of us a bad name. In addition, there are so many people who have been waiting patiently to get this machine. Like it or not, you are a brand ambassador for what you drive.

    Until Next Time!

  4. Doesn’t look too serious, but just wait, he’s not done yet. His next trick will injure or kill someone and probably total the car. There really should be some kind of qualification process in order to buy a high performance car

  5. Like I said on a previous article on a Hummer that only lasted 19 miles and totaled. Money can buy you a lot of things, too bad BRAINS aren’t on that menu. Beautiful car and he made a mess out of it. 😢
