The Corvette Assembly Plant is still facing challenges with parts supplies, and unfortunately, we just got word the facility will be closed next week because of supply chain issues.
That has since been confirmed with a plant spokesperson who says operations are expected to return on October 24th:
“Due to a temporary parts supply issue, we can confirm that Bowling Green Assembly will not run production the week of October 17. Our supply chain, manufacturing and engineering teams are working closely with our supply base to mitigate any further impact on production to meet the strong demand for our products. We expect the plant to resume normal operations on Monday, October 24.”
The last shutdown of the Corvette assembly plant occurred the week of August 29th.
We’ve been hearing that wheels are keeping some cars from shipping, and it’s probably no coincidence that the Q9I Gloss Black 20-Spoke wheels are now 100% constrained. However, these weekly shutdowns are usually caused by delays in receiving multiple parts.
Speaking of constraints, those came out today as well. Looks like dealers can order Z51s with Magnetic Ride Control, but the majority of orders placed for non-Z51s will have to be ordered without MagRide. There is a limited quantity of FE2s available so check with your dealer. In addition to the 100% constrained wheels, the 5ZZ Carbon Flash High Wing is also not available to order, nor can you order the SFE Chrome Wheel Locks.
The Corvette Assembly Plant has produced more than 14,000 Corvette Stingrays for the 2023 model year to date.
