Sure, your C7 Corvette is plenty fast when going forward, but did you know about its capabilities when driving in reverse? Apparently, the higher horsepower and the tall reverse gear all lend themselves to allowing the Corvette to gain backward momentum at a speed that is faster than other vehicles.

A YouTuber named Scot Burner runs a channel called Always in Reverse and he has been documenting the top reverse speeds of different vehicles for the last few years. We see in his various videos that a manual C7 Corvette with a top reverse speed of 54 mph is one of the fastest he has tested on the channel to date, so Scot decided to make it official.

After setting a date with the NCM Motorsports Park and having the run timed by a neutral third party, Scot put the Arctic White C7 Coupe on the track and ran a timed mile in reverse for the Guinness World Record time of one minute and 15.18 seconds!

Here is the post from the NCM Motorsport Park on Facebook acknowledging the new world record for Scot and the C7 Corvette!

In leading up to this world record, Scot had also tested the C6 Corvette, which came in at 40 mph in reverse, while the fastest car he has driven backward is a rental 2018 Kia Sorento SUV at 56 mph. He hasn’t driven a C8 Corvette yet for the channel, but we remember that The Stradman tested the reverse capabilities of the C8 Stingray on the Salt Flats and his top speed was just 31 mph, so this could be world record that stands for quite some time!

Scot hasn’t released any video of the world record run, but you can watch his first test with the C7 Corvette in which he hits 54 miles per hour in reverse.
