Each August, the NCRS Gallery at Corvettes at Carlisle salutes some of the National Corvette Restorer Society’s best award-winning Corvettes. The display honors those decorated Corvettes and serves as a forum for show attendees to learn more about the NCRS and its mission of preserving and restoring Corvettes. The NCRS Gallery turned 21 this year and celebrated with six generations of Corvette history.

The annual collection of winners is organized by the Delaware Valley Chapter of the NCRS. Prospective participants submit their Corvettes via photos and a brief resume listing the accolades the car has claimed. The application is then reviewed, and the organizers invite the cars which will best represent all the NCRS has to offer.

The NCRS evaluates Corvettes based on historical accuracy. How closely do they resemble a new Corvette delivered to its original owner? Cars can be restored back to the factory fresh or left in their original unrestored condition. The key is replicating or preserving what the Corvette plant did back in the day. Cars are scored based on originality (correctness) and condition, and those scoring 94% or higher receive the coveted Top Flight Award. Onward from there, cars can achieve Performance Verification, Mark of Excellence, Star/Bowtie, and several other awards depending on the generation of the car and how far owners decide to proceed through the judging system. The NCRS currently judges 1953 – 2004 Corvettes.

The Corvettes of the 21st NCRS Gallery ranged from a classic Pennant Blue 1954 all the way up to a 2014 Lime Rack Green convertible. Some of our favorites included a Duntov-winning black on red 1966 coupe, a Bryar Blue 1972 convertible, and the requisite 1967 big block wearing green paint and a white convertible top.

Throughout the weekend, NCRS members and the owners of the display cars answered questions about the NCRS, the judging process, and the cars themselves. Several of the NCRS’ various judging guides were also available for guests perusal. Additionally, the Gallery hosts an annual raffle to raise money for the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Fund.

At the conclusion of the Carlisle event, each owner receives a personalized plaque from NCRS Gallery and Corvettes at Carlisle organizers commemorating their selection into the NCRS gallery.

Hats off to the Delaware Valley Chapter on assembling another great collection of Corvettes for the NCRS Gallery. We can’t wait to see what next year offers. Congratulations to all the owners below whose cars were selected for this year’s NCRS Gallery.
