The Corvette Assembly Plant Will Be Closed Next Week As Part of GMs Annual Summer Shut Down

Just a quick note to let everyone know that the Corvette Assembly Plant will be closed next Monday through Friday (July 4th-8th). This is a planned closure and is not the result of any supply chain issues or parts shortages.

The shutdown was confirmed to us this morning by a spokesperson at Bowling Green Assembly. “Yes, the plant will participate in GM’s annually scheduled summer shut down from July 5 – July 8 (July 4 is already a holiday).”

The annual planned closure not only allows employees to get away for a few days in the middle of summer, it also gives the plant’s management the ability to schedule any maintenance and equipment upgrades, and to take care of anything else needed while the line is stationary.

The UAW contract usually provides for the week off during the summer and then another week is granted off between Christmas and New Years Day. In prior years, Chevrolet would use the annual summer break as the model year switchover, but those days seem to be in the past.

As this is a scheduled break, customers with TPWs were most likely scheduled around the dates so we don’t expect those of you to see any changes to the TPWs already in-hand.

As for a current production update, Chevrolet has completed approximately 3,799 Corvettes so far for the 2023 model year. If the numbers hold this week, we should see them cross over the 4,500 mark for the model year.
