Corvettes for Sale: 1967 Corvette Convertible with a 454 and a 4-Speed

To borrow a phrase from Chevy’s current advertising campaign, the new owner of this 1967 Corvette convertible could take this car down plenty of new roads.

After all, the last year of the short-running C2 generation has attracted lots of attention from enthusiasts for decades, so there’s likely not a wrong way to proceed with this Sting Ray.

The car has been sitting since the early 1990s, however, and will need a “complete restoration,” at least in the eyes of the current owner, who has already attracted a lot of attention on eBay with his vintage Corvette. Twenty-one bids have pushed the highest offer to $48,555, with the auction coming to a close Sunday at 2 p.m.

Some enthusiasts would be satisfied enough with the current condition to just keep it as a driver. Others might search high and low for a date-coded 427 similar to what’s believed to have been under the hood originally to replace the 1970s-vintage 454 that resides there now. Some might even decide to go full-throttle and take the car down an even more expensive restomod path.

It’s likely no matter which direction the new owner takes, however, a car like this 1967 Sting Ray will always be desirable to someone.

Unfortunately, the current owner doesn’t know much about the history of the car but points out that it has “a lot” of the features that an original 427 car would have. He had planned to restore the car himself for years but is finally realizing that the time has come for his “very nice project car” to find a new home and let someone else take on the challenge.

What we do know is that the Goodwood Green paint could use some TLC, and the body shows a few cracks and other blemishes in close-up photos provided by the seller. The interior is much the same story – there aren’t any tears or cracks in the green vinyl interior, but there are signs of age on the seat covers, as well as the carpet, console, and dash.

Still, as the seller says, “this is a very complete car with an overall very solid frame and body,” so it appears the new owner will at least have a solid foundation to start out with. Other pluses include the four-speed manual transmission, brakes said to be working “fine,” an original hardtop and black soft top, factory side pipes and manifolds, as well as radial redline tires and aftermarket ’67 bolt-on wheels.

Which road would you point this vintage Corvette down?

  1. Deserves a full restoration with a 427/425 or maybe a mild restomod with the 454…JMHO as a former C2 owner…
