Carspotter Jeroen was at the Cars & Coffee in Luxemburg and captured a few minutes of video featuring a Rapid Blue C8 Corvette Stingray armed with an Akrapovic exhaust system. It’s been a little while since we first saw a C8 Corvette wearing the unique Akrapovic exhaust tips so we thought a refresher might be in order.
These systems are pretty expensive compared to some of the other aftermarket C8 exhausts with a google search showing just over $9000 for the Akrapovic system compared to the $4000 Borla exhaust that’s now offered over the Chevrolet parts counter. However, you’re paying for quality and workmanship and that’s what Akrapovic delivers with a titanium system that is 47% lighter than the OEM system.
From Akrapovic:
Two beautifully finished sets of square titanium tailpipes, with a black interior, are coated for better durability and scratch resistance and relay the sound from the lightweight system. The exhaust is tailored to control the gas flow from the engine and provide a perfect sound: a V8 throb at low revs, which gradually evolves into a rich roar as the revs rise, creating an aural delight.
The website shows a 4.6-hp gain with the system and cautions it’s for off-road (track use) as it doesn’t meet emission compliance requirements for the street. However, those C8’s exported to Europe have the gasoline particulate filters that are part of the corner-mounted exhaust systems so depending on where you may be in the USA, you’ll be just fine and your neighbors will eventually come around to enjoy it as well.

I don’t know the cost, but more than I want to spend to have everyone else enjoy the sound.
Uh $9000.00 for new mufflers! Titanium you say? 47 lbs. lighter! Can you spell ANAL?
The idle sounds like a tractor. It’s obviously for someone with more dollars than sense.
Thanks for the share guys!
